How Find Parts works

Suppliers list the parts they have in stock. Buyers find a part and ask for a quote. Suppliers answer by email, at their own prices.

Buying: get quotes in four steps

  1. Search the part number on Find Parts. Type the first few characters.
  2. Pick suppliers. Open the part, choose up to 10 suppliers, and enter the quantity and your contact details.
  3. Confirm your email. Open the link we send you and press Send my request. The link works for 24 hours.
  4. Get replies. We send your request to the suppliers you chose. They reply to you directly with price and availability.

Your name, company, email, phone (if you give it) and note go to the suppliers you choose, and RapidQuote keeps a record of your request to send and track it. Stock is as each supplier last confirmed it.

Supplying: get found by buyers

Your inventory is never public unless you turn listing on. Buyers see that you have a part, never your price, quantity or description.

  1. Upload your inventory under Inventory › Upload Inventory.
  2. Turn listing on under Inventory › Public listing. It shows which parts will be public before you agree; parts you upload later are listed too. You get your own page to link from your website.
  3. Hide anything you don't want shown on the Public listing page, before or after you turn it on.
  4. Upload again at least every 30 days. Parts not confirmed in that time drop off until your next upload.
  5. Answer requests. Each one arrives by email with the part, quantity and the buyer's details. Just reply to it.
  6. See what we send you under Inventory › Leads: the requests sent to you, with an estimated value where we can work one out.

Buyers see

  • Part number and condition
  • Your company name and city/state
  • When your stock was last confirmed

Buyers never see

  • Your prices or quantities
  • Your descriptions
  • Your email address
Who can list, and the fine print
  • Who can list: a confirmed RapidQuote vendor account with access to public listing (your Public listing page says if anything is missing), with your company name in My Account and quote requests turned on. Accounts connected to an IMS inventory feed can't list publicly, even inventory uploaded separately.
  • Which parts: at least 1 in stock, confirmed by an upload in the last 30 days, and not hidden. Part numbers over 100 characters, or containing spaces or / \ ? # %, can't be listed.
  • Turning it off and on: Turn off my public listing takes your parts off RapidQuote's pages at once; search engines and others may keep copies they already made. Turn it back on and stock you confirmed in the last 30 days comes back at once.
  • Leads: the list shows your latest requests, with monthly and all-time totals. The estimated value is the quantity asked for times your lowest listed price for that part when the request was sent. It's a measure of the business coming your way, not a sale.
  • Upload choices: Everything I have sets parts missing from your file to 0, which takes them off your listing. Safety checks may skip that for a file that looks incomplete, and parts with a line we can't read are left out of it; the upload summary always says what changed. Just some parts leaves everything not in the file as it is. To take a part off your listing right away, hide it.
  • Your file: a CSV with Part Number, Quantity and Price columns; Description and Condition are optional. The upload page shows an example and has a template. Prices, quantities and descriptions are never public.
